New e-ra in India

According to data management Expert Meenu Kaushall, a new Internet e-ra is dawning in India. He sent us this report from New Delhi.

Name: Meenu Kaushal, New Delhi, India
Company: Datanext
smarterwork Expert in: Document Production, Net Research, Writing & Editing
Based in: New Delhi, India
Company established: January, 1995

smarterwork: Could you tell us something about Datanext? How did it get started?

Meenu Kaushal: Datnext is a small company operating out from New Delhi, India. We specialise in data management, document management, e-mail help desk, mass mailing/e-mailing, net research and the entire gambit of back office operations. We started our operations in 1995 with one single PC and have grown slowly ever since. Our working philosophy is quite simple – work with fewer clients and deliver them more than 100%.

SW: You are based in India. What is it like to work there?

MK: Oh! It's fun working in India. India is a country of highly-skilled and hard- working people. We’re often able to do high-quality projects at a lower cost and more quickly than others.

SW: How do you think the market for computer and Internet-related work is developing in India?

MK: The Indian market is booming. India is emerging as a global giant in software development, IT enabled services and the back office operations. We have a large pool of highly skilled IT professionals who are in great demand in the USA and in Europe. Foreign direct investment is being pumped into the IT sector like never before. It is expected that by the year 2008 India would achieve IT export of US$20 billion.

SW: What have been some of your most memorable contracts or Clients?

Wannabee has been our first and most memorable Client on smarterwork. We made a presentation for him. It was a very closely worked project, both of us had perfect understanding, were exactly on the same wavelength, communicating heart to heart. The result was a great presentation, which satisfied both of us. It was fun working with him.

SW: How does being smarterwork Expert rate against other ways you normally use to find clients?

MK: Compared to similar sites, we rate smarterwork as the best place to find and work on new projects. Not only is it a global marketplace, offering Clients a vast choice of Experts, but it also has a safe and reliable payment system. This is important as guaranteed payment removes possible tensions between Experts and Clients and helps to achieve quality work.

MK: The concept of moderation is also very helpful. We know, in case of any disagreement with the client, we can always approach the moderator.

SW: Could you tell us a few words about some of the projects you worked on at smarterwork?

MK: So far, I have completed five projects at smarterwork. I must say all the projects have been exciting, educating and satisfying. All the projects went on smoothly and were completed on time. I found the expert experience at the site excellent. I felt like working in my own familiar environment, and this gave me lot of working comfort.

SW: Do you think the Internet is changing people’s working habits?

MK: Yes, I do think Internet is changing the way people work and think. For people like us it has brought greater work flexibility, an increase in speed of working, a global client reach, greater facilities for financial transactions, reduced cost with higher margins, and exposure to new working methods and technology.

The Internet has made the world a global village with no boundaries, no discrimination of caste creed or colour. It has brought people closer.

SW: Thanks you very much for the interview.
